Arganic Wins Honorary Award at YBF September 2014!

The Winners of the YBFs 2014 were announced on 3rd September 2014 at a ceremony hosted at TATE Britain which was attended by many of the great and good of the food industry.

The YBFs Awards has firmly established it’s role to discover and shine the spotlight on new and innovative UK food talent. In its third year, the winners line up is stronger than ever; Chloe Scott Moncrieff, food journalist and one of the three founders explains; “The awards have been extra special this year. From the ballsy butchers to the incredible bakers to the new young chefs, not only was the calibre of YBF finalists dazzling, but awards night at Tate Britain was a stellar affair. It was wild and most importantly, celebratory. We’re here to celebrate the new young food & drink talent coming through across Britain. This year, nearly 50 % of our winners weren’t London-based but hailed from everywhere from Cornwall to Suffolk to Scotland, showing the Young British Foodies is a truly national movement”.

The awards evening was a celebration of The YBFs and guests were invited to taste the culinary talents of some of the YBF entrants, including Dishoom, Artisan Smokehouse and The Exploding Bakery. Guests enjoyed an eclectic mix of modern recipes, washed down with drinks such as the new and creative cocktails from Chase vodka, extra sweet honey beer by Hiver Beer and carefully selected Prosecco, White and Red wine from Tate Food. Arganic were lucky enough to collaborate with the lovely Bethany Kehdy, who did a fantastic job at creating delicious recipes for us to demonstrate our culinary Argan Oil (thank you Bethany!!).

As well as having an amazing evening, this year Arganic also took away the Honorary award which we are unbelievably thrilled about (see below the phots of Dana looking very smiley after receiving her award)! Chloe Scott-Moncrieff stated-

“Dana won because not only is her argan oil from the Berbers in Morocco delicious, healthy and will give all British salads a makeover but the story behind her business, is incredible, emotionally inspiring and shows she has a truly doughty spirit.”

This is such an exciting time for Arganic, and we are so grateful for all of your support… thank you everyone!!

Shell LiveWire Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award

If being a young entrepreneur was a book, one of the most constantly re-occurring themes in it would be the struggle to make time. And so it appears that this article is admittedly a tad late. This, however, doesn’t change anything about how pleased we are to announce the great ‘news’!

Beating out nearly 800 contestants, Dana Elemara, founder of Arganic, was named one of the eight finalists for the prestigious Shell LiveWIRE Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award after winning the programme’s recognition for Grand Ideas in November! Celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2012, the Award has a long history of supporting young businesses of which a vast number have grown into remarkable companies that once stood out for an idea and now have a serious impact on the UK’s industrial landscape.

The award including a £10,000 prize was won by Ben Allen, founder of Oomph Wellness. Dana was thrilled over the accomplishment of being in the final 8 after going through a multitude of tough rounds of judging. Seeing her entrepreneurial abilities recognized by such a prestigious scheme, she explained:

“I left a well paid job at an investment bank because I was so hungry to start my own business and really wanted to use my creative side. Shell LiveWIRE has been fantastic, and really has given me confidence in myself as an entrepreneur.”

We at Arganic are glad Shell LiveWIRE added this important chapter to our steadily-growing book and if ever we should be nominated for an award again, we promise to make time a bit sooner to share the news with our faithful readers.

Great Taste Awards 2012

Great Taste Websie

We have won our first award, a Great Taste Gold Award from The Guild of Fine Food, the ‘Oscars of the food world’. The judges described our oil as having a ‘very nutty aroma’, ‘good light appearance and clean colour’ with a ‘very smooth texture and good viscosity’. All in all they decided on ‘a good nutty taste, slightly smoky, the flavour lingers well- a most interesting oil which would have a variety of uses.’ Quite right you are sir!
